Being Forward

I am not sure that there is any worse of a driving hazard than a forward-facing car seat. I should be driving, but all I want to do is watch my baby in the rear view mirror. It is so hard to "just drive". Why drive when I can make him laugh or watch him eat a pretzel? The best is being able to watch his little eye lids get heavy and see him drift off to dreamy land. I never get to see that at home, so of course I am going to watch in the car.

Does Jack get jealous of all of my flirting with Van? Oh heavens yes. He hates it. So beasty older brother gets his toes tickled too and then everyone is happy, at least until Mommy kills everyone because she is busy making crazy faces in the mirror and then hits a car.

My solution for looking at my backward facing baby- a mirror. Best $14 I've spent on baby gear.

I can never get my mirror to fit right so's I can look at my child properly. That and I hate that it's all carnival mirror and plasticky.

We're still rear-facing, his birthday isn't until next month. Haven't decided at what point to turn him forward. My ped's office is recommending rear-facing until 30 lbs. We'll see if we last that long... Personally I can't wait to turn him around so we can be proper car mates. It'll open up a whole new world for him I'm sure.

So funny, Kalli, with E.G. I couldn't wait to turn the chair forward. I did it right at 12 months. And then with Proximo, I didn't want to turn him forward until forever. I think he was almost two. I just looked at his little neck and thought about a car accident and how that neck would ware forward-facing and said, "No."

jealous. my 17 lb 18 month old may never get to turn forward. at least it saves us on buying a new car seat for her.

SO true. i had to take out the little mirror that enables you to see your baby when they're in the backward facing carseat. i almost rear-ended like 10 people trying to drive & looking in the rear view mirror.

He's such a cutie...I can see why you have a hard time keeping your eyes on the road.

I'll wreck not Oo & ahhing over my three but having to take my eyes off the road to see what the heck they are doing, like hitting, pushing, & bickering. :(

@beck ... someday ady will be big enough ...

@whitney ... i TOTALLY agree with you, having kids is definately more dangerous than talking on the phone or anything else that happens in cars
