Bookmarked III

Jack starts preschool in September. For most who know me know I was completely against preschool. But through deep prayer, thought, supplication, pondering, meditating, discussing and all matters of the like, we have decided he needs preschool. We met his teacher and she showed Jack where his backpack will go. Backpack? What will he possibly need a backpack for? His textbooks? I momentarily thought of buying him a new backpack, but we have plenty of little bags around the house that will suffice. But my curiosity was peaked and I went snooping around the internet for cute backpacks. Little Packrats are the CUTEST backpacks around. Click here. My favorite is the giraffe one.

Annie's Eats posted a recipe for brownies and the picture of them might be the sexiest picture of brownies I have ever seen. See for yourself.

Yesterday, I went blackberry picking with my friend Bird. It was heaven. Pick a few, eat a few. Bird's baby girl (online handle is Dotter) was stained in blackberry juice and happy as could be. I have 6 lbs of blackberries in my fridge and my brain is going a million miles an hour trying to figure out what to do with them. Blackberry pound cake came to mind and I think I am going to use this recipe from Never Enough Thyme. Hopefully I will be able to report a success.

Joyful Baker posted a recipe for White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Cheesecake. I am not a huge fan of cheesecake, but Olive Garden used to have this dessert and I loved it. Yeah, the cheesecake probably came from Sysco, but it was delicious. Click here for Joyful's recipe.

1. Jack is going to love preschool! It's fun to pick them up and hear about their day. You probably won't get as much drama as I did (girls can be so nasty).

2. I just went blackberry picking too. There is something so magical about picking your own berries... (total city girl) My kids loved it! I made a blackberry cobbler, it was good. I'm excited to see what you make with your fancy cooking skills.

I totally understand the backpack dilemma. Unfortunately, Adam was so excited to pick out his own and he chose a GIANT Transformers one. It's seriously as big as he is. Not my favorite. Oh well- he loved preschool last year. It was such a fantastic experience for him.

Thanks for your kind comment by the way- you're no slouch in the making-cute-kids department yourself!

I love, love, love that dessert from Olive Garden. Maybe I'll try that recipe...make it the first dessert I make in my new house.

Just curious why are you against the preschool? Or would that be like my wondering about why you have your bills mailed to CA? LOL! I still wish I could have mine mailed elsewhere. :))

Good luck to Jack!

This summer blackberries were my choice of berries. They have been soooooooo good. Can't wait to see what recipes you come up with.

I made your hoisin marinated salmon tonight. My vegetarian in-laws said it was the best salmon they have ever had and they eat it weekly. Thanks for your awesome recipes!
