Chef Sous Chef

Jack is an imagination extraordinaire. For Christmas, he wants overalls so he can pretend to be a farmer. He wants rain boots to complete his firefighter garb. If he is dressed up like a soldier he has to make sure it is accurate. "Mom, do army guys chew gum? Mom, do army guys wear white socks? Mom, do army guys listen to Christmas music?" Everyday he is something.

Today he is a chef. I asked him what his chef name is and he said, "Chef Sous Chef". Here is a sample of his menu verbatim.

"Well, we've got mayo, salami, chicken, roast beef with mayo on it and ketchup. People think it's so good. Pineapple with mayo with ketchup with roast beef. Chicken cheek, turkey with snow turkey. Alcohol with mayo. Alcohol with beer, um then, chicken feet, roast beef, we have a lot of roast beef. Chicken and a lot of mayo. Red pasta, black pasta, orange pasta. We don't have the yellow kind because that's gross. Salami pizza, pepperoni with olives with mushrooms with tomatoes.

For dessert, we have gravy, ice cream, milkshakes. Orange milkshakes, chocolate milkshakes, red strawberry, pineapple. Ice cream orders, pizza orders. Banana orders, pizza orders, salami orders. We do all those orders."

He has a great imagination, but we need to work on his menu. Gross.

I just spent quite a bit of time reading some of your previous posts and I find this blog absolutely lovely. I LOVE good food with lots of flavor, but I have a hard time nailing down great go-to recipes. So I am wondering, what recipes are you go-tos? And what spices/ingredients are a MUST have around your house.

:) I hope you've written this down to remind him of what he cooks so when he questions YOUR meals you can show him! Also, so you can both remember just how totally cute he was!

We need to talk to Jack about his mayo addiction and why mayo is one of the worst things ever invented on this earth (unless it's a specialty mayo, that I can deal with)

my faves are the "alcohol with mayo" and "we don't have the yellow kind because that's gross."

love it. I'd eat at jack's. heavy on the mayo & milkshakes. I will need some avocado to make it complete though. :)

he's too freaking cute, by the way. and without an imagination, life would just be so dull......it's great to know a kid who hasn't been so desensitized that he uses his noggin to entertain himself....enjoy it, kids like him seem to be rare these days. (do I sound old or what?...."these days"....lol)

Aw, that is too cute. Cadence is all imagination play right now too. She likes to dress up in her princess garb and host parties for her "friends". My favorite part is when her "friends" don't cooperate and she yells at them. Picture a Sleeping Beauty in full regalia yelling at no one. Its amazing! I wonder what amazing games she and Jack would play together? My guess is she would be very displeased when he didn't listen to her :P

I'm trying to imagine something made with mayo, ketchup, pineapple, and roast beef. Perhaps it's the next hot sandwich combo, who knows?

There is way to much mayo in that menu

Loved Jack's menu!! It reminded me of the time our son was 6 years old and made my husband and I Pepsi Jello out of Diet Pepsi and Knox Gelatin. period. Made me wish I was dead, but we had to eat some. Jeezzzzzzzzz!!

I love the Chicken Cheek and Chicken with lots of mayo. I also love how he talks about the orders. I immediately imagine that part said with a NY accent.

This is the cutest thing ever! I love it. In a flurry of small-blogging-world-ness, I saw your comment on a Giveaway Giveaway post that I found from my friend's Giveaway Giveaway post and then came over to have a look because my nice husband photographed you and your sisters in April (no link to his site!) and I'm so glad I visited, because I should make your recipes and this is the cutest story ever. I am so thankful for kids and their darling ways. Oh, this is so cute.
