Mom treats?

Do you have your own Mom treats that you hide from your kids and maybe your spouse? If you do, I will bet it's chocolate. Currently, there is a bag of Lindt truffles hiding in my sock drawer. Ethan, you didn't read that.

When I have a quality Mom treat, I have to be so stealthy. If Van The Eater hears or sees anything reminiscent of food, he starts his noise. The noise meaning, "Hey lady, hook me up with some of that". It is slightly whiny and loud. "Eh! Eh! Eh!" If he senses food and I do not immediately reach my hand over and give him some, he begins his scream. The bloody, gorey murder scream. I often wonder if Van's unusually large mouth contributes to his ability to so volumize his feelings so loudly.

Can I wax sappy about my baby right now? I can and I will. I love him more than I ever knew I would. He is so sweet, sensitive, skinny, tough, hungry and funny. And almost always has some type of bruise on his table-height forehead. One of the best parts about him is that he is 18 months. And that means he gets to be in the nursery at church now. Ethan can't wait to teach his primary class in relative peace and I can't wait to not have to chase Van away from the Relief Society piano.

What Mom treats do you hide from your family?

My mother also hid Lindt truffles in her sock and underpants drawer. When I was a kid, my father often flew to Europe on business and brought back Lindt. Sadly, few times did my mother share. I have to admit though, that I also hide chocolate from Husband. No kids yet, but I am certain they will not be privy to my choco stash.

I hide treats from my husband all the time. But he always seems to find them. I think he has a sixth sense.

lindt truffles are totally my weakness. i was with child last christmas, feeling like crap, and only ate 2! the entire holiday season. i'm really sad about it, so i'm totally making up for it this year.

I try and hide treats but they are found too quick by my stealthy children. My little boy's name is Van also and he has the same white/blond hair and mischievous smile. Must go with the name:)

I hide all treats. Does that make me selfish? YES. And I'm okay with that.

I'm a hider. I recently polished off the snack size snickers that I confiscated from the rest of the crumb snatchers. you can eat so many more when they're tiny. :) I usually don't buy treats if I can help it, because it always ends the same way. the kids get a couple, and then they are mine.....alllll MIIIIINE!

so anyway, I love when I have to resort to hiding within earshot, and stuffing my mouth with food & chewing it before anyone asks me about their next homework problem.....

and wait until they figure out your breath smells like chocolate & they want to know what you were eating......it's a terrible web of lies I tell you.......lol.

So I'm not crazy or strange? (Wait, don't answer that...) My husband thinks it is incredibly bizarre that my mom and I like to hide treats. Psh. Seriously? And hiding means that I have to put it somewhere so high I can barely reach it because my kids are into stacking chairs these days and climbing them.

My favorite things to hide?

Soda (Sprite Zero)
Expensive chocolate
Cookies
Treats from the neighbors
Tortilla chips
Anything "trashy" that my foodie pals might think less of me for consuming. :)

How's this for ya? Maple syrup. The real, $20/32 oz, straight from the tree grade A pure maple syrup. The fam gets Mrs. Butterworth, they don't even know about the true goodness they are missing. Its too expensive to waste on those who don't care. I'm allergic to chocolate & hate gummy candies so maple is my crack.

Those dark chocolate pomegranate things from Costco. Holy cow. Currently live above my oven behind sheet pans.

Mine are the See's Candies Milk Chocolate Bordeauxs. They're a heavenly blend of brown sugar and butter cream. I don't get them very often and when I do they immediately go into my bedroom where I then proceed to consume in private. I'm not great at sharing, especially the good stuff!

My youngest is 22 mos. and just as loud as he is greedy for whatever I've got. He screams "MOM!!!!!!!" We're practicing please.

Double Stuff Oreos. I do not share them and I keep having to find a new hiding place because my (very tall) 11 year old can find them anywhere.
