Today Ethan and I were given good tidings of great joy. A girl, we are having a girl.

We went to the doctor in hopes of getting an ultrasound today. Luck was on our side and our wish was granted. We saw her tiny spine and rib bones. We saw her fluttering heart.

We are excited. Such an excellent Christmas present.

A great Christmas present indeed. You know I can't say if boys are better/easier than girls, but I can say that girls are so much fun. Now you'll have a mini-you in your kitchen.

What a wonderful day for you Whitney! I am SO happy for you! And I also think you are a bit funny for not going to the doctor till now! You weirdo! I bet everyone's so excited!

@shani - I didn't go to the doctor until now cuz it's not like they are going to tell me anything I don't know. It's just "Hey there, pee in this cup, stop gaining so much weight and we will see you next month." I thought I would keep the boredom at bay as long as I could.

Congrats on the girl! They are the best... well, I am biased.

LUCKY!!!! I agree with you about not going to see the doctor until now. I should have done that. I am sort of annoyed with the visits these days. "do you have any questions?" they always ask....nope, I have got it by now.

I put off going too. I don't do any of those tests anyway so I don't see any point in going. A lot of people think I am weird for not rushing to the doctor the minute I find out I am pregnant.

I would go to the doc sooner if it was neccessary, but I have had two very healthy, normal pregnancies and I have felt just fine.

In my opinion, I feel like pregnancy and delivery are personal issues and to each her own. Whatever way you are most comfortable going about it, do it. One way or another, a baby comes into this world.

happy girl!!!!!! that's the best! the best thing I've heard all day!!! congratulations! I wish I could tell you just how different it is going to be....how they are hard-wired for girl-ness....and how they are emotional, and motherly, and sassy, and kind-hearted, and will absolutely postively steal your very soul the minute you lay eyes on your daughter. and you're never the same again. :::sigh::: I'm so happy for you. so completely happy for you.

Nice what Me, Only Better said. She's right, nothing like a mom and daughter relationship--we were total and complete witches to our mom. Poor woman.

Poor you.
