Dear Son, wanna go on a date?

Son One and I have been going on dates a lot lately. I especially like going out to eat with him. When it is just us, he doesn't have to compete for attention, so he is so good. Dating him is also a good chance to teach him manners and chivalry, especially chivalry because really, in truth, it is dead. We learn that you open doors and that you hold hands with a girl when she is going down stairs to make sure she is safe.

Lately, I have been trying to teach him that he doesn't do any "true loves kiss", unless he is married or as tall as Dad. It is actually quite creepy. He will try and grab the sides of my face and give me the longest peck of all time. Dang that "Enchanted" movie. It is has turned him into an aspiring romantic.

Among other things, we have been learning Christmas songs. I have added a line to "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".

"He sees you when your sleeping.
He knows when you're awake.

He knows when you're mean to your mom."

Then it turns into:

"He sees you when you're a mountain!"

(Giggle giggle)

"He sees you when your a light!"

(Giggle giggle)

"He sees you when you're a ABCs!"

(Giggle giggle)

"He sees you when you're a burrito!"

(Giggle giggle)

"He sees you when you're a soda!"

I love that dang kid. Everyone, have a kid, specifically a three year old. You will think your life just doesn't get any better.

My son is 7 and we still have our dates. We go to our favorite restaurant and share a turkey sandwich and drink cherry cokes... then we go to the bookstore and look for cool cookie recipes... then a scoop of ice cream before we head home!

Funny is rewinding and watching Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby as the Hanes sisters over and over and over and over again. CLASSIC!

I thought Hannah was weird for trying to give my that uncomfortably long peck while holding my face with her little hands. Now I know that Hannah AND Jack are weird. I like the rule that Jack can't kiss until he is as tall as Dad, that's a good one. I'm going to steal that idea from you, it that ok?
